Spring Tension Units
Reliance Barker Davies offers Spring Tension Units for the purpose of suspending and tensioning guide ropes. Spring Tension Units are typically implemented in shallower mining applications involving smaller guide ropes and lesser applied tensions.
The Spring Tension Unit is installed on the tensioning deck of the headframe, where the rope is terminated within a gland that sits above the spring. Hydraulic force is used to adjust the Spring Tensioner until the desired spring-applied force is achieved. Each unit is calibrated upon initial assembly and testing of the unit. Underground, the guide rope is typically anchored via a wedge-type gland or a socket and lug.
